Week 22!

We are now done with week 22! It seems like things are going very fast! Miss Adalyn is kicking and punching up a storm now!  It is amazing to feel her everyday now!  We flew to Florida this week for a wedding.  The trips there and back were uneventful.  The event itself was a lot of work and very stressful.  Our diet was not great and I was on my feet most of the 3 days helping to decorate.  Being on my feet so much resulted in the lovely development of cankles (lower leg, ankle, and foot swelling).  Yuck!  Not attractive or comfortable.  My belly has also gotten a lot larger and my belly button has pretty much disappeared!

We had our anatomy ultrasound this week.  It was great to get to see baby girl again!  We won't get actual results until we go in for our OB appointment November 1.  She was not the most cooperative little girl.  She would not let the woman look at the back of her head!  And every time the woman pushed on my belly with the ultrasound probe Adalyn kicked at her.  Her heart rate was 144 bpm.  They got a great profile picture and I got to see her little fingers, toes, and ears.  It is amazing how in love you can be already!  The lady that did the ultrasound commented that Adalyn is all arms and legs!  One foot is still up by her face.

Best moment of this week?:  Seeing baby girl on ultrasound.  Feeling her move!

Week 21

Week 21 is complete!  Adalyn is getting stronger everyday!  Thursday of this week she finally kicked (or punched) hard enough to be felt from the outside.  Of course, by the time Brandon got home she was no longer doing it.  But Friday he did get to feel her moving!  She likes to move around a lot between 10 pm and midnight.  She is a night owl!  Then she starts up again around noon.  It is pretty amazing to feel and be able to share that with Brandon.  She also had the hiccups for the first time that I could feel.  Also, a strange feeling.  I experienced my first case of heartburn this week.  It manifested as a severe burning in my throat when I went to bed.  Several mommies recommend sleeping on an incline and Tums.  They worked well, thank goodness!

We finished up our baby registry!  It was very overwhelming, but fun too!  There is so much stuff.  We registered at Babies R Us, Target, and online at Dearestdiapers.com for adorable cloth diapers!  In case you didn't know, we are going to use cloth diapers!  We are very excited about this choice.  Cloth diapers are environmentally friendly, reduce the chemicals on our angel's booty, and they are adorable!  These are not the same cloth diapers I wore as a baby!  They are stylish and easy!

How far along?: 21weeks!
Total weight gain?: ? (We don't have a scale at home)
Baby is the size of a: pomegranate

Stretch marks?: No :-)
Sleep: I still don't like sleeping on my side, but it is getting better!  And I still have to get up to go to the bathroom a couple of times at night.

Miss anything?: A good night of sleep without waking up.
Baby Movement/kicks?: Big kicks or punches

Symptoms I have: Lower back pain and heartburn.

Week 20!

I can't believe we are already at 20 weeks!  Yes, we missed the 19 week picture.  We had a busy week.  Jen and Jeff came up for a visit from Alabama. Jen and I attended the KVMA veterinary continuing education conference in Louisville.  We had our OB appointment last week.  Everything is going great! She has a strong regular heartbeat and is growing as expected.  My major milestone for the week, I made it through my first blood draw ever without passing out or getting light-headed!

How far along?:  20 weeks!
Total weight gain?: 7 pounds total
Baby is the size of a: banana
Interesting facts about baby at this stage: Her tastebuds are working!
Maternity clothes?:  Some, but still wearing regular clothes too.

Week 18!

18 weeks!
We are at 18 weeks now!  Time is flying!  Baby Adalyn has already been to her second concert, Carrie Underwood!  We have an OB appointment next week.  I can't wait to hear her sweet heartbeat again! We finished painting the nursery this weekend.  Now we just have to put up the chair rail up in the room.  We also picked out our nursery furniture!

How far along?: 18 weeks
Total weight gain?: I don't know this week.  We don't have a scale, so I only know after our appointments.
Baby is the size of a: sweet potato
Interesting facts about baby at this stage: She is yawning and starting to suck her thumb.
Maternity clothes?: I am wearing some maternity jeans (so comfy) and some of my regular jeans.  I have had to get some bigger shirts to make sure the bump is covered.
Stretch marks?: No!
Sleep: Ugh, I am not supposed to sleep on my back anymore, which is how I prefer to sleep.  Sleeping only on my sides is a challenge.  It tends to hurt my shoulders and hips.  I still have to get up once or twice to go pee.  Adalyn likes to bounce on my bladder!
Best moment of this week?: Feeling little movements!
Miss anything?: Good sleep!
Baby Movement/kicks?: Still just little movements.
Food cravings?: Nothing major this week.  I still love Root Beer (which I have never liked before pregnancy) and I am drinking a lot more milk than usual.
Anything making you queasy or sick?: No!
Belly button in or out?: Still in, but stretched out.
Happy or moody most of the time?: Very happy, but that can change quickly.
Looking forward to: Hearing her heartbeat next week!
Symptoms I have: Lower back pain and some fatigue.

Week 17!

It's a GIRL!  We went to Early Images for our gender determination ultrasound this week.  They won't do an ultrasound for gender until 22 weeks at Fort Knox!  We did not want to wait that long.  We are not patient enough for that! Luckily for us it is a girl, because we could not agree on any boy names.  I thought it was a girl from the beginning, because I could only come up with girl names.  Sweet little girl's name is Adalyn Nicole.  We heard the name and both instantly loved it!  I am a major daddy's girl, so I am beyond excited that Brandon will get to experience that with Adalyn!

Little girl

Our first 3D image.

Catching up

Our announcement! Taken by our amazing friend Kristy Magdich of Bella Posa.

We are 21 weeks pregnant now!  Time has gone so fast!  Since we just started this I will do a little bit of catch up.  We have been taking weekly belly pics to document my growth, but I wanted to be able to share and remember the other things that happened as well.  So here we go!

First trimester was rough!  I had constant nausea, but only occasional vomiting (thank goodness)!  I still don't understand why they call it morning sickness, since it lasts all day.  I also had serious fatigue and back pain.  Drinking anything but bottled water (which I dislike fundamentally, because it is wasteful) made my stomach upset.  I could not cook or even open the refrigerator.  Thank goodness Brandon loves to cook (I am very blessed)!  I did not eat much either.  All of our OB appointments went well!  I even survived the first blood draw, but I came very close to passing out!  So here are some of the pictures to catch you up!
We found out on Father's Day! June 17, 2012

We started pics week 14, because the bump appeared!
